Attention: This is very important information about Spring Lawn Care!!
Well folks this may be a very bumpy spring. Trees budding, Magnolias, Cherry trees, Bradford Pear trees (we know Bradford Pear trees are a huge weed BUT they do have a tell-tale bloom cycle) and other flowering blooming in February is ALWAYS bad news. Turf Managers can help you with the bad news and Spring Lawn Care.
Do you remember the Easter freeze of 2007? Well, we may be setting up for that same scenario.
Temperatures have been high, plants are pushing out of dormancy one month early and the cells of the plants are plump with moisture. One good freeze (not a simple frost but a freeze) in the high teens to mid-twenties and we may see history repeat itself. If this happens there is very little protection to guard our plants. Simply covering the plants up with a cloth or tarp will not prevent a plant from freezing beneath the cloth or tarp.
This year more than ever tree and shrub care is going to be extremely important. Proper pruning, pruning out damaged limbs and branches, fertilization and insect and disease control are going to be paramount. Also proper assessment of affected trees and shrubs are important to determine if the plant is worth investing into or replacing. WE CAN HELP WITH ALL OF THESE THINGS.
Let’s keep our fingers crossed that we don’t have a FREEZE.
