March is the Official Unofficial start of spring.
Although we have had cold and snow there are already signs of spring. We have already spotted some daffodils and some other early bloomers blooming around town. So it’s time to start thinking about spring services that we need to be doing now.
Here’s a good punch list of things we’re taking care of now
- Spring Lawn fertilization and weed control with crab grass preventer
- Tree and shrub dormant oil (helps to keep down insect populations) and also root zone fertilization
- Late winter/early spring lawn and landscape clean-up of winter debris, leaf matter and weeding of the landscape beds
- Late winter/early spring trimming of shrubs and trees
- Trimming Monkey grass and other ornamental grasses (these need to be trimmed before the new growth comes out. If this is done too late the new growth may be cut which will affect the look of the new growth)
- Winter tree and shrub planting
- Mulching of the landscape beds and adding pre-emergent
- Herbicides to hold down weeds in the beds
- AND anything else that you may need help with in the lawn and landscaping

If the grass is growing we will start mowing in March. Usually we will mow on an “as it needs it” basis until the weather levels off in warmer temperatures.
Guess what!!!!!!
Daylight savings time starts on March 13th so get ready to Spring forward. Now if that ain’t the first sign of spring we don’t know what is.
Happy Spring Everyone! We’ll see you in the lawn!
